Sweet It Is Returns Positive Swab

Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) Stewards were notified by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL) on Wednesday 2 September that, upon preliminary analysis, the post race urine samples taken from the greyhound Sweet It Is following the State Final of the National Distance Championship at The Meadows on Saturday 8 August was found to contain the Permanently Banned Prohibited Substance Benzoylecgonine (a metabolite of cocaine).

Owner/trainer of Sweet It Is, Mr Braden Finn, was advised of the finding by Stewards at a kennel inspection at his property on Thursday 3 September. The reserve and control samples are yet to be analysed and Mr Finn was advised of his right to have this performed in the presence of an independent approved analyst nominated by him at RASL.

Pursuant to GAR 79(A)(3)(b), the greyhound in question is ineligible to be nominated for any further event until such time as a sample taken from the greyhound does not breach GAR 79(A).

GRV Stewards have now started an investigation into this matter and no further comment is able to be made while the investigation runs its course.
