HOW TO NAME A GREYHOUND

Presently, GRV is in the process of building a new computer system (FastTrack) which will affect many business operations currently undertaken by GRV and those within the Victorian greyhound industry.   Rather than roll-out all of these changes to the industry out at once, the impacts of these changes will be managed in stages.
One of the first of these changes is to micro-chip all Victorian greyhounds which will allow an increase in efficiency on race-day and will streamline race day procedures. To date, close to 10,000 greyhounds have been micro-chipped in preparation for the January 1, 2012 deadline stating that all Victorian trained greyhounds require a valid micro-chip to race in Victoria.

Another change for the Victorian greyhound industry relates to procedures for naming of greyhounds whelped after January 1, 2011.

The procedure for Naming a Greyhound (Form G) for greyhounds whelped after January 1, 2011 is now as follows:

1)      Download an Application To Register the Name of a Greyhound which can be found under the Application Forms section of the GRV website.

2)      Complete the registration form and supply the following attachments:
a)      Certificate of Greyhound Ownership & Identification
b)      Vaccination records
c)       Enclose the appropriate fee (Non breeder: $45.00, Breeder: $35.00). Please pay by cheque, money order or by providing your credit card details on the application form (no cash please).

3)      Mail the Application Form (and attachments) to the Member Services Department at 46-50 Chetwynd Street, West Melbourne, 3003. Alternatively, the form and attachments can be scanned and emailed to [email protected].
A new Greyhound Identification Card will be mailed to the applicant that will replace the old paper Certificate of Registration.
The new Greyhound Identification Card and the micro-chip will be essential for race day identification moving forward in 2012.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the new procedures for naming a greyhound (for those whelped after January 1, 2011), please contact Member Services on (03) 8329 1100.
