NATIONALS: Emotional night ahead for Cairnlea Kenny connections

The late Peter Hubbard will be watching Sandown Park from above tonight as the best greyhound he bred, Cairnlea Kenny lines up from box one for South Australia in the Group 1 National Sprint Championship (515m) at 9.08pm.

It will be an emotional time for Peter’s wife Jan, owner of Cairnlea Kenny, and their children, who will be making the six-hour-round trip from their home town of Grassmere in Western Victoria to watch the race.

While Peter’s ‘best mate’, Ken Hinkley will be embroiled in the action of the Port Adelaide v Essendon clash at Adelaide Oval tonight, the Power coach will be hoping Cairnlea Kenny, who is named after Ken, can claim the $75,000 first prize.

The race will be run during the half-time interval of tonight’s match, with the Petar Jovanovic-trained Cairnlea Kenny rated a $10 chance with tab.com.au
