THE ADMINISTRATOR WHO BUILT A GREYHOUND RACING DYNASTY

In June 2012 John Stephens officially departed from his role as Chief Executive Officer of Greyhound Racing Victoria after 12 years in the top job.

Stephens, 61, has been involved in the industry for over forty years having previously been the CEO of the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club for 12 years, a Director of the Melbourne Greyhound Racing Club for 8 years and a member of the GOTBA Executive also for 8 years.

Under strong leadership from Stephens GRV has gone from being a fragile industry with a questionable future to a multi-million dollar sport that is growing at a rapid rate.

Annual off course betting turnover on greyhound races has risen to around $700Mil.
