New whole of life greyhound care website launched

A comprehensive new website covering whole-of-life care for greyhounds has been launched by Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) at: greyhoundcare.grv.org.au

‘Greyhound Care and Standards’ is a one stop shop that supports both professional greyhound racing participants and those starting out in the sport.

Site topics include proper nutrition, exercise, vaccinations, dealing with common health problems, required kennel and facility specifications and retirement and re-homing options.

The site also provides a detailed guide to participant rights and responsibilities in areas like the code of practice, permits and registration and inspection of premises and kennels. Also included on the site are FAQs, updates on rules and regulations, profiles of leading people in the sport and the latest news from GRV.

Announcing the new website, GRV’s CEO Alan Clayton said it had been developed as part of GRV’s renewed focus on animal welfare and compliance with codes of practice.

“‘Greyhound Care and Standards’ provides the information that Victorian greyhound racing participants can use to achieve best practice in breeding, rearing and training,” Mr Clayton said.

“Beyond helping ensure that greyhounds enjoy the best possible care, it will also support the professional development of many of the small businesses and 3000 people working directly in the sport.”

‘Greyhound Care and Standards’ will be continually updated and includes a feedback function so participants can share their own expertise and experience to help make sure Victorian greyhounds come first, on and off the track.
