👥 Angela Langton, Anakie
📍 The Meadows 🏁 Race 2 🔲 Box 8 ⏱ 12:04

Comment 🎙 Still a maiden after nine starts but he has turned in some eye-catching performances and gives every indication that this journey will suit. In a race that lacks genuine early speed, he should have no trouble crossing early and assuming control as they go past the post the first time and from thereon it should be a procession. There is a slight concern about him covering the extra 125m, but he is bred to run the journey and is in very astute hands. Currently at the $2.10, he appears to be well over the odds.

Key Stat: Placed in his only start from this journey (100%).

TAB fixed odds: $2.10 Win

Investment 💰 $1 Win

👥 Heather Collins, Pearcedale
📍 Cranbourne 🏁 Race 5 🔲 Box 8 ⏱ 8:11pm

Comment 🎙 She’s down a bit in form but will appreciate the drop-in class and appears ideally drawn out wide. Can be tardy from the boxes but has slick pace once she hits the ground and will get a nice cart across from the ‘seven’ (PATCHES COLOUR) in the run to the first bend. The inside division do not possess a lot of early pace so that should allow her to settle in the top three as they head for the back straight and that is where she does her best work. It is her first start over 500m-plus for a while, but she has run out the journey previously and is at peak fitness. A great chance of winning at $5, however the place option looks the safer investment.

Key stat: Placed in one of two this track/distance (50%).

TAB fixed odds: $5 Win; $1.70 Place

Investment 💰 $1 Place

Comment 🎙 This event is worthy of a Group 1 final and the box draw has made things interesting. SHIMA SHINE (4) was desperately unlucky in the G2 Warragul Cup and will be looking to make amends. He is four from four this track/distance and held the 450m track record before it was eclipsed by PIRATE PETE (8) in November last year. ‘Pete’ has been blessed by the good draw and regained some much-needed confidence with a top 25.62sec Warragul win. YOZO BALE (1) recently captured the G2 Ballarat Cup from this draw and is still racing in peak form. He is likely to lead with ‘Pete’ expected to pour the pressure on in the middle stages and maybe prove a little too strong in the run home. ‘Shima’ is probably the fastest chaser on the planet at present but from the tough draw he is going to need a lot of things go his way.
