Silver Lake, remember the name!

Silver Lake has announced himself as a potential star of the future with a blinding win at Sandown Park tonight.

He was tardy to begin but quickly found himself in control of the field. His turn of foot to the back straight was electric with an 18.47 second split and completed the 515m in 29.14.

“It’s a relief. It even feels weird getting a photo at Sandown!” said trainer, owner and breeder Lynette Gough.

For months many have been aware that Gough had a real talent on her hands. Silver Lake debuted at Sandown Park last month without any luck then followed up with two fast wins at Warragul.

He turned 2-years-old at the start of December and was eligible for Saturday’s Silver Chief heats at The Meadows, however Gough is well aware there is no need for urgency.

“I didn’t want to rush into the Silver Chief. I enjoy that he’s mine, I own him and there’s no pressure to hurry or go a certain way. There’s no immediate plans for him at the moment.”

It’s clear he’s a machine on the track and off it he has the temperament to match.

“He’s a lovely boy. His name is Boo and is just perfect at home.”
