Let’s take a look back the previous eight 515m Speed Star events to see if that can help us find a winner:

  • Smart Missile (series 1) is the only top seed to win the Speed Star. Hooked On Scotch is tonight’s top seed
  • Smart Missile also holds the race record, running 29.006 (the fastest match ever run however was run by Dyna Patty when she ran 28.999 in a consolation event in series 8)
  • Just 10 female chaser have contested the main event, and only four have won their match (Dyna Patty, Zara’s Entity, Outside Pass and Lamia Bale). Dyna Patty is the only female to win overall. Courting is the only female in series 9
  • 18 of the 32 match winners had drawn the outside, including seven of the eight overall winners
  • 22 of the 32 match winners led their match at the first split, including seven of the eight overall winners. Bewlidering (series 5) is the only overall winner to have come from behind
  • The first split record for the series is 5.01 held by Allen Terminator. Interestingly, he also has the record for the slowest winning time of 29.730
  • 22 of the matches were won by the faster qualifier of the two, including five of the overall winners
The fastest time run by a defeated greyhound was Orson Allen’s 29.222. He ran the third fastest time overall in series 7
  • The average match winning time (excluding the rain affected series 6) is 29.313
  • The first four series winners trialled their way into the final. The most recent four winners set their times in a race. Sennachie and Feral Franky are the only two greyhounds to have trialled their way into tonight’s series
