Sennachie sails into Speed Star contention

Sennachie sailed into second place on the Speed Star lead board following his slick trial this afternoon.

Australia’s highest ranked greyhound, Sennachie carved out impressive splits of 5.02, 18.64 before stopping the clock in 29.245. The time elevated him ahead of Feral Franky’s 29.247 recorded last Sunday, with Hooked On Scotch (29.087) remaining atop the standings.

“I thought the run was alright,” said trainer Steve White.

“This isn’t the grand final or anything, it’s about getting him around and getting the run under his belt.

“But he’s gone good. He needed that run, he hasn’t had a ‘500’ since he won the Maturity. It’s good to see him come out of the boxes and run those splits, it’s just a matter of getting the fitness into him.

“I’m very happy with the run.”

While Sennachie’s gallop all but assures a berth in the $190,000 match race series, trainer White was uncertain as to whether the dual group 1 winner will participate in the September 15 series with the Bulli leg of the the Million Dollar Chase qualification series also on the agenda.

Boom pup Razor’s Edge (29.351) and Blue Striker (29.585) also trialled between races.
