Twenty-eight greyhounds will be looking for their furever homes at GAP’s first-ever Warragul adoption day on Sunday, 5 August

Victoria’s Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP) is hoping to find furever homes for 28 greyhounds when we host our first-ever Adoption Day in Gippsland on Sunday 5 August.

GAP will host the greyhound adoption day at the Warragul Greyhound Racing Club, Logan Park in Howitt St, Warragul from 11am – 1pm.

We are taking registrations now. To find out more and to register please visit our Greyhound Adoption Days page at: gap.grv.org.au/events/greyhound-adoption-day/

GAP is one of Australia’s most successful greyhound re-homing programs, finding homes for more than 1000 lovable pooches each year. GAP’s kennels are located in Seymour and at Baxter on the Mornington Peninsula, but we take greyhounds on the road to regional and metropolitan areas for adoption days every six to eight weeks.

GAP’s Adoption Manager Larissa Darragh said she was looking forward to the adoption day in Warragul.

“We are looking forward to introducing our beautiful greyhounds to residents of Gippsland and the surrounding area,” Ms Darragh said. “Adoption days are fun, informative and you might go home with a new addition to the family.

“If you aren’t ready to take one home with you then adoption days are a great way to meet the dogs and learn a bit about the breed. Our knowledgeable staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions on the day.

“Greyhounds make terrific pets because they are friendly, loyal, docile dogs and they suit all kinds of lifestyles. They don’t need a lot of exercise, just one or two 15-minute walks a day is enough, which is average for a pet dog. They can be real couch potatoes, they are happy to sleep most of the day.

“Some of the greyhounds are former racing greyhounds while others never made it to the track. They are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, they come with a lead, collar and coat and they all undergo a thorough temperament assessment. They are ready and waiting for their new home.”

If you can’t make it to our greyhound adoption day visitors are welcome to visit our kennels at Seymour and Baxter. Visit our website to find out more about locations and open hours: gap.grv.org.au/gap-locations/
