Zara proving her existence in Cranbourne Classic

Zara’s Entity is fast becoming a name on everyone’s lips – just 10 starts into her career Zara has already claimed group glory with a win in the Group Three Cranbourne Classic last Saturday night.

Trained locally by Kel Greenough, Zara’s Entity has claimed six victories and three second placings and has now amassed more than $42,000.

Zara’s Entity started as the $2.70 favourite ahead of another local in Shadale in the Classic. When the boxes opened, Zara’s Entity flew to the early lead from box four ahead of Perceptive and Noaki Colour – there was no looking back for the daughter of Mogambo and Girl Aloud as she stretched away to win by six and a half lengths.

Owners and breeders Michael and Maureen Barry were delighted with their up and comer’s run.

“She has done so well for us so far – we really cant be any happier with her,” Michael Barry said.

“Zara is typically fast from the boxes and comes home strong which is what she showed in the final on Saturday night.”

Zara’s Entity is a result of a wise breeding choice the Barry’s made in 2007 to breed Crystal Entity with Spiral Nikita. Crystal’s Entity is the mother of Girl Aloud who is Zara’s Entity’s mother.

“I wanted to put Spiral Nikita into my line so I would have some nice females to breed with in the future,” Barry said.

“Girl Aloud didn’t race because we wanted to breed with her.”

Girl Aloud had her first litter to Mogambo in 2010 which produced the likes of Evie’s Entity and Marley Girl.

She went onto have five more litters, including a repeat mating to Mogambo following the success of the first litter.

Zara’s Entity isn’t the only pup in her litter to show potential, Kel Greenough believes that litter mate Billy’s Entity is just as quick, if not quicker than Zara on the circle tracks.

Billy’s Entity won his maiden from box five at Healesville in a time of 19.41sec on Sunday July 30.
