Thompson’s time in Warragul Cup


Jason Thompson will head into next Saturday’s Group Two $67,000 Warragul Cup (460m) with half of the field, after qualifying four greyhounds in Warragul’s richest race of the year.

Sleek Master started Thompson’s big night in the first Warragul Cup heat, jumping from box three. The 32 kilo chaser broke the heart of locals defeating home town champions Jesaulenko and Pantera Nera, to make it through to his sixth group event from 56 starts.

Aston Bolero (pictured with Seona Thompson) proved why he was $1.60 favourite, making every post a winner in the third Cup heat. Next week’s Warragul Cup will be his 12th group race in his 72 start career.

Aqua Cheeta was the surprise package, defeating pre-race favourite Zambora Brockie to record a strong victory from box four.

Aston Dee Bee finished second in the last heat of the Warragul Cup behind Queenlander Zabdon Ferrari, making it through to his first group race in his 10 start career (six wins and 3 minor placings).
