Additional Meeting at Healesville this Friday

Friday marks the opening of the additional meeting up the straight at Healesville which is aimed at providing further opportunities for higher-ranked and short-course Victorian bred greyhounds.

Berringa trainer Michael Niele (pictured with daughter Michelle) is set to travel the three hour plus journey across the state on Friday with five of his greyhounds, including two reserves to compete in the 250 plus ‘Rank Limit’ for Victorian Bred Greyhounds.

“Being a trainer in the country usually means you have a few short course dogs in your kennels so having the 250 plus ranking for Victorian Bred dogs comes in handy,” Michael Niele explained.

“If I get the chance I like to go to Healesville because it’s a beautiful place and a great way to build up strength and fitness with your dogs.”

Out of Michael’s chances in the additional meeting on Friday at Healesville he believes that Blazing Nitro is his best chance in race 11.

“He is a very big dog so the straight track suits him a lot! It is a shame he is drawn on the inside because he enjoys an outside box draw.”
