Osprey dominant in Cup Prelude

Dundee Osprey stole the show last night at Sandown Park when he tore apart TAB Melbourne Cup Prelude 5.

After being only fair to begin Dundee Osprey positioned himself perfectly around the first bend with his eyes firmly set on only leader Black Mumbo. He took the lead shortly before turning for home and exploded away to win by 3 lengths in 29.22 – the fastest time of the night.

Yanong continued his rise to stardom when he took out Prelude 6. Yanong began well and took full advantage of his rails draw as he hugged the fence to settle just a length off the leader. He took control of the field approaching the home turn before going on to win by 2¾ lengths in a swift 29.50.

Boom sprinter Fanta Bale added to her unbeaten record at Sandown Park in Prelude 7. Once she exploded from box four the race was as good as over, the final margin 3 lengths in 29.47.

After a luckless run in an Adelaide Cup heat last Thursday, Marley Bale bounced back to his brilliant best taking out final Prelude of the night. Remarkably, Marley Bale was one of five winners on the night from box 3.

The next and penultimate Prelude series will be run on Thursday 20 November. All Prelude winners gain exemption into the heats of the world’s richest greyhound race, the TAB Melbourne Cup, to be run Friday 11 November with the final the following Friday.
