Jason Thompson looks well placed to claim the Bill Collins Speed Star with four nominations for the unique match race series.
Group 1 winner Dalgetty heads the leader board with his scintillating 29.087 win in the Easter Gift.
Joining him from Thompson’s Pearcedale kennel is Launching Pad winner Bucky Forty, litter brother Burn One Down and classy sprinter Invictus Rapid.
A total of 13 greyhounds have been nominated for the event with the top five – Dalgetty, Outside Pass, Dundee Osprey, Major Jackpot and Burn One Down – guaranteed a berth in the final. Blazin’ Bomber, Pure Titanium and Invictus Rapid will trial on Sunday in an attempt to force their way into the field.
The final field and reserves will be finalised following the final trial on Sunday afternoon. The box draw, which will determine the matches, will be conducted from 3.40pm and will be streamed live on the Club’s Facebook page.
The Bill Collins Speed Star will be run as race 3 on Thursday night, with the four match races to be conducted in under 30 minutes.
Sky Racing will show enhanced coverage of the entire series on Sky Racing 2 (ch520).
Thursday 5 May kicks off the Top Dog tipping competition with $14,000 to be won over the RSN927 Sandown Cup carnival.
