That’s more Lady like

The consistent Lady Toy has returned to her very best after an impressive win last night at Sandown Park.

Lady Toy was last to begin and settled at the rear of the field in the early stages before activating her customary mid-race pace to threaten danger approaching the home turn. Lady Toy swept under leaders Come On Fantasy and Dublin Bull to take the lead in the final strides to win by a length in 41.99.

It was her 23rd career win and fifth at Sandown Park, much to the delight of trainer Brooke Ennis.

“She was ordinary to begin, dropped out the back and was able to get a nice run through the field – I wasn’t quite sure how she’d go on the slow track but it proved to be no issue,” said Ennis.

“Her run home times have been really good in all of her recent trials – it’s exciting to have her back to her best.”

Just six days earlier Lady Toy returned to the winners list at Geelong after a long run of outs and in the process broke the 680m track record.

“We knew she was going well however it did still take us by surprise – she’s a seasoned stayer and probably has an experience edge over some of the dogs she’s racing against.”

On the track Lady Toy is consistent as they come, however off the track she has a mind of her own.

“She has a massive personality and certainly knows when it’s race day – she’s ripped up a couple of beds and can be a bit of a rat bag at times, but she’s lovely and great to have at home.”

Last week Lady Toy was named as an invitee to the Group 1 Zoom Top at The Meadows on February 20, and if she is to take her place it will be her 16th Group race final.

“We will accept the Zoom Top invitation, fingers crossed she’ll be selected in the field.”
