Sandown Park Preview: Sweet It Is, Dyna Double One the Headline Acts on Bumper Night of Racing

Sandown Park hosts a terrific twelve race program on Thursday night with some stars of the game contesting races over all three distances, with the ball set to bounce at 7.08pm.

Early in the night we see the promising Nitro Power drawn box three in the second. George Kantzidis puts the polish on this rising stayer, who has the ability to record slick sectionals on the way home as we’ve seen at the majority of his 16 career outings. I’m expecting this promising young pup to sit right up on the early speed and from there he should prove way too good.

REPLAYS
– Nitro Power flying home at Shepparton three runs ago from box one (Watch)
– Nitro Power’s solid placing at Sandown Park last week from box eight (Watch)

The Warragul to Sandown final will be conducted as the fourth race on the program and it was Duane Eddy who caught my eye in the heats as he showed a smart turn of foot to wind up second behind Thunderlips at his Victorian debut (Replay). With genuine pace either side, he should gain a nice clear run in the early part which should have him in with a big say late.

A classy field of eight Victorian female sprinters clash in the Damsels Dash at 8.31pm, race five. It looks a superb race on paper with Shared Equity the one to catch for mine from box three after a luckless Geelong Cup run from the squeeze draw (Replay).

Watch: Shared Equity (5) had a luckless run in last Friday night’s $77,000 Group 2 Geelong Cup final.

Sweet It Is will be sent around a short priced favourite in leg two of the Quaddie after an incredible last start win in the Inaugural Topgun for stayers at Group 2 level (Replay).

The field assembled easily could be mistaken for a Group 1 with an incredible array off depth. There’s no doubting that Sweet It Is will be the one to beat but she won’t be able to make one error against these tip top rivals.

Watch: Sweet It Is (3) was a superb winner of the inaugural $118,000 Stayers Topgun.

After a devastating win last week RaceVideo, Zipping Chubbz lines up in the mixed fourth and fifth grade, race seven. Stating the obvious, a clear run from the awkward draw and he’ll be winning again.

The Free For All appears a top class race on paper as you would expect this time of year and Dyna Double One (pictured top of page) only needs to reproduce his Topgun run when third from this alley to salute here (Replay).

The last race is set to run at 10.58pm so head to Sandown Park and enjoy a thrilling night of metropolitan racing.

Watch: Dyna Double One (8) runs third behind Fernando Bale and Kayda Shae in last weekend’s $224,500 Group 1 Sky Racing Topgun (525m) at The Meadows.
