Sandown Preview: You Little Bewdy

With the taste of spring in the air, racing begins to warm up at Sandown Park this Thursday night! Racing is set to get underway at 7.08pm and I’m very keen on a few runners throughout the evening.

In the second race of the night BANJO BEWDY steps out after an extremely impressive Victorian debut last outing. At her Victorian debut she recorded some phenomenal sections on the way to her slick 30.07 best of the night performance at The Meadows last Saturday night (watch RaceVideo).  The daughter of Magic Sprite and Mary Lou Cargo has the ability to produce flying first sections and will only need to reproduce a similar run to her last outing to win tonight.

Owner Andrew Varasdi goes into the race with reasonable confidence despite having the concern of the dreaded second run back (from a spell). In a recent trial at Sandown she produced fantastic splits and if she can reproduce them she will be hard to catch.

The features on the card include the Restricted Win Final which is Race 3 on a 12 race card and there’s no doubt SULZANTI will be the one to beat after a sizzling 29.420 secs win in his heat on Sunday. The other feature is the Grade 5 Final over the 595m which comes up in Race 6. The last of the three feature races is the special event which is the final leg of the quaddie (race 8) and I’m going to be pinning my faith on WHAT’S CHEWING after he cruised to a terrific 34.183 secs victory at the venue two starts ago (watch RaceVideo).

WATCH: Sulzanti (3) puts in a powerful performance at Sandown Park

The stayers clash in Race 5 on the card over the 715m trip and after being a shade disappointing last week from box eight I’ll be expecting SEEKING JUSTICE to bounce back and hopefully repeat his dominant win two starts ago (watch RaceVideo).

The last of the night is set to bounce at 10.54pm with WHAT’S UP HERBIE drawing beautifully in box number one. The son of Nitro Burst has been racing well of late from inside draws including a speedy 30.131 secs win at The Meadows three starts ago (watch RaceVideo).

Good luck and happy punting for what looks and strong, competitive card of racing.
