A-Game Required as Headline Acts to Clash

Back we go to Sandown Park for racing this Thursday night. A strong card the order of the night with the final of the Ron Nestor Memorial held at 8.55pm the feature.

The Ron Nestor Memorial is an interesting series as the heats are held at both Metro tracks, but yet the final held at Sandown Park this year. I think the form line from the heats at Sandown will prove superior. The wins of both Kayda Shae and Midnight Ride were both outstanding after finding slight early bother last week, yet still both winning easily.

Watch: Kayda Shae (3) wins his heat in 29.300sec.
.
Watch: Midnight Ride (6) wins his heat in 29.714sec.

The free for all looks to be a cracking race. With the headline acts being the recent Golden Easter Egg winner Fernando Bale and the extremely smart youngster Dyna Double One. With great depth in the race, it’s going to be a contest not worth missing! I’m leaning toward Fernando Bale but he will need to bring his A-game against this opposition.

Later on we see the 2014 Ballarat Cup place getter Blue Giant line up from the rails alley in Race 9. The moderate beginner can lack a little early pace but down in class I think the Peter Akathiotis prepared veteran can race well.  With a solid amount of speed drawn his outside I’m hoping the giant can lob into the top four early and finish hard to win running away.

Watch: Blue Giant (3) battles on gamely to run third at Sandown last Thursday night.
.
With a massive drop in class, Midnight Flynn looks so very well boxed drawn out wide in box 8 in race 11. The natural wide running chaser was in terrific form during the early part of year and I think he’ll be bouncing back after a luckless Sydney campaign. With good speed drawn his immediate inside, the Mick Carter prepared sprinter should get a good cart into the race and being a natural looping type, he should be winning.

.

Watch: Midnight Flynn (7) shows his class when winning at The Meadows on Feb 21 in 29.721sec.
.

If you’re looking for a get out, or your just looking to increase the depth of your pocket, Boxhead drawn four in the last is the way to go. With the ability to run smart sections in the early part of his races, I believe he just needs to hold One Dee in the run to the first corner to prove the winner. His win at Sandown Park two runs back was impressive and a repeat of that is all he’ll need to send the punters home on a winning note.

.

Boxhead (2) leads all the way at Sandown Park on April 5 in 29.445sec.
.
Good luck and Happy Punting.
