Fabio to Bounce Back!

After bravely (and accurately) predicting odds-on favourite My Bro Fabio to get rolled in an Australian Cup heat last weekend, RSN Race Caller James Van de Maat expects the superstar to bounce back tonight at Sandown Park. Here James identifies some of the best bets of the night…

Thursday Night metropolitan greyhound racing from Sandown Park looks a strong program with plenty of depth, despite the spotlight being on the Australian Cup Carnival at The Meadows.

12 races are set for decision with the first at 7.05pm and the ‘lucky last’ at a late 11.03pm.

The punting begins in race number two. I am extremely keen on Soul Maker (1) as a place bet prospect in this race. As seen below in her last start fifth, she showed some terrific early speed to carve over and lead and from the inside alley, and I think she will be up in front for a very long way again.
.

Watch: Soul Maker (7) led a long way at Sandown last start.
.
The 715m start will be in use for the stayers in race number six. The highly talented rising star Opec Bale (4) meets a much easier assignment than his last start fifth from box five in a heat of the Group 1 Superstayers.

He had no luck after missing the start and finding severe momentum-slowing trouble into the straight the first time.
With a large class drop I think Opec Bale can be bouncing back to his best. Opec Bale each way all day!
.

Watch: Opec Bale (5) ran fifth in a heat of the Superstayers last start.
.
Race Eight on the card looks a cracking race on paper with half the field coming out of last weekend’s Australian Cup heats. With natural class and one of the biggest engines in the game I think My Bro Fabio (8) will be way too good. After no luck from a wide draw last week, I feel he has drawn better with railers drawn inside him apart from Allen Deed (1) and Jayney Bale (2), which he should miss being boxed so far away. A clear run is all this Brooke Ennis prepared star will need to be back in the winners list.
.
Watch: My Bro Fabio (7) encountered plenty of interference in his Australian Cup heat last weekend.
.
Later on in the night we see a highly promising future 600m+ pup go around by the name of Tobias Kelton (4). Jumping from the four alley over the 515m, the Stephen Toner prepared youngster will be needing plenty of room early but will be motoring home late. As seen last week, once he gets into the clear he has a incredibly strong run home style, looping the field out from wide. There’s no doubt the son of the Irish speedster Farley Blitz will be stepping up to longer trips in the not too distant future.
.
Watch: Tobias Kelton (3) came from a long way back to win at Sandown last start in 29.863sec.
.
The last of 12 wraps up at 11.03pm, so happy punting and great racing!
