Despite never having competed in a group race final before, Azza Azza Azza is almost certain to start favourite in Sunday’s Group 2 CKH Painting Shepparton Cup (450m).
The $65,000 race will be Azza Azza Azza’s 30th race appearance in what has been a tantalising career so far.
He has amassed 19 wins from 29 starts, and none better than Monday night’s heat, where he burned off dual country cup winner Luca Neveelk with breakneck early speed before cruising to a five length win.
Trained by Wayne Vassallo, Azza Azza Azza has come up with Box 1 in the final, with his 24.928sec heat win easily the quickest of the night.
Even dual Group 1 winner Dyna Villa, despite leading all the way in his heat, could only manage to get within four lengths of Azza Azza Azza’s time.
