Greyhounds Spread Christmas Splash

The swimming pools got a good workout as greyhounds and greyhound lovers alike headed to Seymour for a fun day in the sun at the Greyhound Adoption Program’s annual Christmas Festival on Sunday.

The biggest news from the day was the adoption of 19 greyhounds, a record for a GAP Christmas Festival and the second most adoptions by the Greyhound Adoption Program in a single day.

“People have always been able to adopt greyhounds at our Christmas Festivals, however this is the first year we’ve heavily promoted it,” said Greyhound Adoption Program Manager, Larissa Darragh.

“We had 25 greyhounds available on the day, so to find suitable homes for 19 of those dogs is a fantastic result.”

Other highlights from the event included:

  • More than 15 greyhounds entered the Fancy Dress competition, won by Polly
  • People were entertained by Seymour College School Choir & renowned singer Matt Baird
  • Greyhounds received free dental assessments, while people browsed the market stalls and various food outlets
