Victorian Greyhound Awards

The 2016/17 Victorian Greyhound Awards took place at the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club on Friday 18 August. The event recognised some of the outstanding contributions made by greyhounds and people to the sport of greyhound racing.

VICTORIAN GREYHOUND OF THE YEAR

Recognises the premier Victorian greyhound during the 2017 racing year, as adjudged by the Victorian Greyhound of the Year Panel.

STRIKER LIGHT
VICTORIAN SPRINTER OF THE YEAR

Recognises the premier Victorian greyhound sprinter of the 2017 racing year, as adjudged by the Victorian Greyhound of the Year Panel.

FANTA BALE
VICTORIAN STAYER OF THE YEAR

Recognises the premier Victorian greyhound stayer of the 2017 racing year, as adjudged by the Victorian Greyhound of the Year Panel.

GRV HALL OF FAME

The Victorian greyhound racing Hall of Fame panel can induct up to two people and two greyhounds into the Victorian greyhound racing Hall of Fame each year, which is a recognition of their excellence, integrity, consistency, longevity and overall contribution to the industry.

Outstanding race dog winning three Group 1 events including the Topgun and Melbourne Cup, as well as three Victorian country cups.

Named in honour of the late Kenneth Russell Carr, a leading Victorian greyhound racing administrator, the Ken Carr Medal is considered the highest award for excellence within the Victorian greyhound racing industry.

NED BRYANT ‘SILVER FOX’ AWARD

Awarded to a person for showing outstanding achievement in the training, breeding, welfare or promotion of greyhound racing.

ANDREA DAILLY
PROVINCIAL TRAINER OF THE YEAR

Awarded to the trainer with the most winners across Victoria’s 11 provincial tracks during the 2017 racing year.

ROBERT BRITTON
METROPOLITAN TRAINER OF THE YEAR

Awarded to the trainer with the most full stakes metropolitan winners in Victoria during the 2017 racing year.
