Greyhound Racing Victoria regularly reviews breeder performance and publishes its ‘Top 20’ Victorian greyhound breeders. This list is based on the percentage of pups a person breeds that go on to win three or more races, have ten or more race starts, and the percentage of pups that go on to race. This gives an accurate indication of a breeder’s ability to consistently breed pups that go on to have a relatively successful racing career, rather than those who have one or two highly successful individuals. To qualify for the list, a person or syndicate must breed at least six litters during the specified five year period. Example, the 2014 list will be based on the success of litters bred between 2008-2012, as pups born after 2012 will likely be too young to race.
