Champion West Australian, Miata, will be the headline act this Saturday night at The Meadows and she contests a heat of the $25,000 to-the-winner TOPCAT Video Cup series.

Recently crowned National Distance Champion, Miata, is coming off a last start near-record run at Cannington that extended her career record to 29 wins and three placings from 35 starts.

Miata’s 27 year old trainer, Paul Stuart, commented in a recent interview with RSN’s Shane Anderson that his star greyhound is in good form for the trip to Melbourne.

After suffering a shock loss over 642m at Cannington two weeks ago, Miata rectified her form at the weekend as she won in dominant style, running just one-length off her own 715m track record.

“It was good to see her (Miata) make amends for the loss the week before. She ran up to her time standard as well, so it was good to see her back to her regular self,” Stuart said on Monday.

“She’s not too far off the mark now, she ran through the sections nicely (in her last start) and she’s just working back in to full-fitness now, so if she can maintain what she’s doing I would be rapt.”

Miata will race in Heat 3 (Race 9) this Saturday night at The Meadows and has drawn Box 3.

Another attraction for this Saturday’s meeting at The Meadows is rising star Jessie Rumble, who comfortably accounted for her rivals at her first run over 725m last weekend.

Jessie Rumble has been making her way up through the distances of late and was very impressive in her 725m debut, running 42.81s.

Trainer Darren McDonald was upbeat when discussing his greyhound on RSN, but says that she needs to prove her talent against the top-class greyhounds this week.

Jessie Rumble will compete in Heat 2 (Race 7) this Saturday night and will exit Box 4.
