Bear injury sours Easter Egg heats

It was a mixed night for Victorian greyhounds on opening night of the Golden Easter Egg series in Sydney, with several big names knocked out of the series and another enduring a career-ending injury.

Poke The Bear (pictured) will retire from the racetrack after sustaining a broken hock, in what was devastating news for the Seona Thompson kennel and breeder/owners Darren and Michael Puleio.

Victorian trio Miss Splendamiro (29.54sec), Fast Car Driving (29.69sec) and Black Opium (29.84sec) were among the 10 heat winners, as time honours went the way of locally trained Fernando Blaster (29.40sec).
