Traralgon greyhound racing track to reopen Thursday, 6 December

The Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club track will resume hosting meetings from Thursday, 6 December 2018.

The track has been closed since October following sub-surface drainage issues.

In accordance with Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV)’s Safe Racing Initiative, GRV has consulted extensively with the Traralgon Greyhound Racing Club to improve their track.

In addition to the drainage issues, the initiative found that the track’s 395m and 665m starts were among the most unsafe in Victoria.

TGRC will work with GRV to finalise a plan to further improve the track in the coming months; this will likely include more extensive works in 2019.

It was agreed that the 395m and 665m starts (from their current positions) should not be a part of the track’s improvement plan.

Effective immediately these distances will not be used in the Traralgon racing program.

The race distances at Traralgon will now be 315M, 525M and 595M for the immediate future.
