Sprint rivals in return Speed Star match-up

Greyhound racing’s exciting Speed Star concept returns to Sandown on Sunday and among the most anticipated match-ups will be Orson Allen versus Dyna Patty, with superstar pair to exit boxes 1 and 3 respectively over the 515m.

Orson Allen ran second to Dyna Patty in the Group 1 Maturity Classic (525m) at The Meadows in July (see image above), while Orson Allen defeated a sensational field which included Dyna Patty at Sandown last start.

“They’re developing a great rivalry,” Orson Allen’s trainer Correy Grenfell said. “They’ve raced against each other a few times now and there’s not a lot between them but the one advantage Orson Allen has over Dyna Patty is that he has a bit more early pace than she does.”

Dyna Patty caused an upset when defeating the highly-fancied Poke The Bear in the last Speed Star meeting at Sandown Park in May, and trainer Andrea Dailly said the concept suits her down to the ground.

“Dyna Patty doesn’t have a lot of early pace, so racing two-out suits her and she is drawn on the outside of Orson Allen which is what I’d prefer. However, Orson Allen is in terrific form so it will be interesting,” she said.

Both greyhounds opened up at $1.90 in TAB’s head-to-head markets, while punters can also bet on a range of other markets including whether or not a track record will fall.

The first Speed Star match is scheduled for 5.39pm on Sunday.
