Shepparton Cup date moved

The 2018 Group 2 Shepparton Cup final held over 450m has been moved to August 18.

The Cup, which was originally scheduled to be run on August 4, has been pushed back two weeks.

Heats for the final will now be conducted on Monday, August 13 with nominations closing on Friday, August 10 at 9am.

The Cup will now be held between the National State final and National Sprint and Distance Championships, which will this year be held in Melbourne, at Sandown Greyhound Racing Club.

GRV’s Acting GM Racing Scott Robins said the move would ensure a high calibre of greyhounds would take part in Shepparton’s premier race of the year.

“This move will better manage the flow of greyhounds competing at group level,” Mr Robins said.

“The Shepparton Cup has a rich history of attracting the best greyhounds from around the state and this shift in dates will help ensure that tradition continues.”
