PREVIEW: Kilty Express set for classic bounce back

Sandown Park isn’t the only place for feature greyhound racing tonight, with the Warrnambool Classic spirit continuing with $7,175 up for grabs in the Warrnambool Classic Bonus Final (450m) at 8:34pm. This is a race open to greyhounds nominated for the Warrnambool Classic who didn’t finish in the top three of the final. Here are my top four selections…

1ST: Kilty Express (box 2), pictured with co-trainer Dustin Drew, was my pick in the Warrnambool Classic, and I am keen on him again here. He was run down in his heat last week and he had to do a lot of work just to cross his rivals, which I think left him vulnerable in the home straight. He has a perfect draw here and I expect him to lead, which should make him the one to beat.

2ND: In a wide open race I think the main danger is the promising Farmer Brown (box 8). He is a winner in four of his six starts to date and has plenty of early speed, so I think the wide draw is ideal for him. If he can get over outside the leader at the first turn he is a massive chance to win this. A concern would be that he was a touch slow away in his heat, which he will need to avoid here.

3RD: Who’s Driving (box 6) was terrific in his heat win, charging home to run down Kilty Express. He will need a little bit of luck early, but he has a monster finish on him. This dog could be a future star!

4TH: Hurry Slowly (box 1) has won seven of his 11 starts, but can be a touch hit or miss in the early stages. If he jumps well he’ll be a major player, but he is certainly going to be relying on a little bit of luck throughout.
