Noel Ryan to be honoured at Sunday’s coursing meeting

The late Noel Ryan (pictured, inset) is being recognised with a race named in his honour at Sunday’s coursing meeting at Lang Lang.

“The Lang Lang club has named their third event of the day the Noel Ryan trophy after the late Noel Ryan, who was a stalwart of coursing,” said National Coursing Association Secretary, Sue Delaney.

“The National Coursing Association is encouraging people to come along and enjoy the day as we celebrate the life of Noel Ryan and his passion for his greyhounds.”

Sue said the rise in interest in coursing this season around Victoria has been heartening.

“All serious coursing trainers are heading to Lang Lang this Sunday as contenders at a full program of events.  A total of 129 greyhounds have been nominated, which signifies the increasing popularity of coursing,” she said.

Sunday’s meeting boasts the prestigious Werribee Cup as the opening event of the day.
