Sandown Park Preview: Throw Your Loose Change on Max!

With so much of the greyhound racing attention focused on The Meadows over the next few weeks, Sandown Park slips under the radar with a very strong 12 race fixture on Thursday night.

The opening race of the night is set to bounce at 7.08pm with the attention turning immediately to the opening leg of the Quaddie (Race 5).

Cut Loose Max (pictured above in the number one rug), a star from the 2014 Ready 2 Race Sales, has been on his worst behaviour at box rise in his past three outings which has had him missing the kick badly. I’ll be expecting this exciting chaser to spring back to his best from the get-go. If he does hit the start well and find the front running early I quite simply can’t see him losing. In saying that it will all depend on his start and also where a few of the dangers are early.

The fifth grade final over the 595m will be conducted as the seventh race of the night and it looks an extremely open race on paper. I’ll be expecting Both Sides Now and Zigstar to battle for the early lead, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see any of the eight salute in what looks such evenly matched field.

Rare Pearl (Race 8) looked outstanding in his last start 29.91 victory at The Meadows (Replay), but he does have a tendency to get away from the rails throughout which may assist the chances of Igor Karkaroff, who’s drawn really well on his inside.

If you’re looking to extend the balance in the latter stages of the night I’d be placing small each way bets on Zipping Simmo and El Surrao, who have both drawn ideally in box one.

So there we have it, Sandown Park previewed so good luck and happy punting!
