$6,000 Ready 2 Race purchase wins Warragul Cup

While last night’s Warragul Cup might have produced an upset winner in To The Galo’s, it was a stunning victory to say the least, and an outstanding advertisement for the Bendigo Ready 2 Race Auction series.

The Cup field assembled was star-studded and there certainly was a host of winning chances. Pop the Cork, Above All, Shared Equity, Fuelish and Big Ticket were some of the massive names engaged, but it was little-known To The Galo’s who would upstage them and do it in devastating fashion.

Purchased for $6,000 at the 2014 Bendigo Ready 2 Race Auction, he won 16 races for former trainer Phillip Smith until he was transferred to Garry Selkrig’s kennel two weeks ago. He was terrific in his Warragul Cup heat win before finding the lead in the Cup on Friday, where he sizzled early and never looked like losing, romping home by three lengths and breaking the track record in the process by running 25.34.

With his win on Friday night he took his prize-money to over $122,000 and you would like to think that if he keeps repeating what he did on Friday he will be winning a lot more prize-money, proving that owners don’t need to spend much money to reap plentiful rewards.
