The Meadows Preview: $10K Quaddie Jackpot Saturday Night

Saturday night racing comes from The Meadows with nine sprint races, two middle distance and one staying event. The first is set to bounce at 7:13pm.

A 525m maiden final opens the card and a classy field of eight youngsters are set to line up hoping to set their careers up with an early metro win. I think Gee Joon is far from the fastest greyhound in the race but with the aid of the rails draw and a few slow beginners on her outside, I’m expecting a big run from the red In the opener, especially after the way she won her heat crashing to the fence in the early stages from box eight (Replay).

The staying Shepparton to the City Final (725m) has a very competitive field set to clash in the $16,000 feature, which is Race 4 on the card. Nitro Power was a shade unlucky finding the rails in the early part in the heat and he’s been giving the intention he will stay the 700m for the past few months with some powerful closing sections over the five and six hundred (Replay). Given a clear run in the early part he should lead and win the rich feature event.

Once again I’m keen on Lunar Eclipse (Race 6) after he ran some dazzling sectionals on the way to his 30.00 win last week (Replay). At his second run back over the five hundred he should have plenty more petrol in the tank as he swings for home, hence the reason I rate him a massive chance to repeat the dose.

The ninth event of the night is the ‘Coburg Football Club’ Special Event (600m) and Xtreme Knocka (pictured) looks the goods from box eight. He’s been so unlucky of late, including a narrow defeat in the Group 1 Hume Cup (600m) at The Meadows last month, but he should be proving too talented this time around.

There’s a juicy $10,000 jackpot on the Quaddie with the first leg (Race 5) to kick off at 8:38pm, and here’s how I’d be attacking the four leg feature.

My Flexi Quaddie selections: – 1,3,5,7 / 1,2,3,4 / 2,6,8 / 1,2,3,4
(If successful, a $20 outlay with these selections will return a 10.41% of the winning dividend).

Good luck and happy punting on yet another strong night of metropolitan greyhound racing!
