FLYING Merkel has been racing in some of the most consistent form in country Victoria since debuting in July, and his stunning triumph in the Millers Muzzles (1-4 wins) Final at Beckley Park on Friday was no exception.

Having missed the placings in just one of his ten starts to date, punters backed the exciting youngster into odds of $7.90 – preferring Angela Langton’s Twist Of Thunder before the jump.

However, the son of Barcia Bale and Motorette capitalised on a strong start to shoot to the lead early on, a position which allowed him to miss a mass of trouble around the first bend and eventually salute in an impressive 25.72sec.

But an even more impressive run stole the Friday night lights, when Ernest Bale notched the ninth win of his career in a best of the night time of 25.68sec over the 460 metres.

Quint Bale capped a brilliant night for the Collins kennels when he scored in a swift 22.50sec over the 400 metres. The victory marked a return to form for the former New South Welshman, as it was his first victory in five starts.

[divider] [/divider]WITH no meeting in the wild west of Horsham this week, responsibilities fell to Warrnambool – and the south coast did not disappoint on last Tuesday afternoon.

Star chaser Amelia Christa put on a dazzling show, with a stunning 25.29sec best of the day to headline the show.

The Irish-lined bitch shot to the front with a flying jump out of the boxes, putting a mammoth five-length gap on the field heading around the first bend – a deficit which she held heading into the final straight.

The meeting left it late to reach full heat, with a number of stunning gallops over the short course of 390 metres – with the fastest of many coming from Graham Glass’ Knocka’s Choir.

Having proven her class with an impressive 15 victories and 16 placings from 37 starts, the Knocka Norris bitch shot through to salute in a brilliant 22.12sec.

DISTANCE racing highlighted another classy night of racing at Ballarat, with the Mega Merch Rural & Pet GDR dominating the headlines.

The talented It’s A Blast scored the near $3,000 in prizemoney, after leading the entire race – a feat which eclipsed talented competition in Spring Trail and Du Plessis in 38.04sec over the 660 metres.

But the Ennis kennels rebounded in brilliant fashion, when the classy Zipping Chubbz notched the finest time of the evening over the famous 450 metres – a brilliant 25.02sec.

Noakis Girl has made a brilliant start to her career, recording the second and most classy victory of her three start career – a stunning 22.15sec triumph over the 390 metres.

In the middle distance feature of the evening, Sam Bonaccurso’s Maverick Blondie overcame stiff competition in the form of Prince Django and Get Up Dinozzo to notch the fourth win of his career in a time of 31.24sec.

WARRNAMBOOL’s regular Thursday night meeting delivered some of the most exciting racing of the week, and it was epitomised when Tear Away Moon and Il Bacaro could not be separated for first place in the Eureka Sheds Maiden Final.

This came as Tear Away Moon swooped late to run down Il Bacaro, who looked to be heading to the line unchallenged. The judges decided there was no margin between the two on the line, and they were tied at a time of 25.56sec.

But the fastest time of the evening over the 390 metres was also tied – albeit in separate races – when Noaki Lynx and Gee Boy both scored in a classy 22.09sec.
