Hooksy Returns

Sandown Park’s May Carnival kicks off on Thursday night and features four weeks of outstanding Group racing including eight black type events and over $800,000 in prize money.

Hooksy, the greyhound whom co-trainers Jim and Tanya Auld recently rejected an offer of $350,000 for, returns to racing after a minor metacarpal injury in Thursday night’s Bill Collins Memorial (515m).

“I think he should match Buckle Up Mason for the early lead and if he can get a clean run around the first corner he should hopefully break clear of the field down the back straight,” Jim Auld said.

Thursday night will also feature the Group 3 Bert Bryant Memorial (595m) and a cracking Group 3 Lizrene (715m) that includes Sweet It Is, Xylia Allen and Destini Fireball.
