RESPECTED BREEDER TO ASSUME MANAGEMENT POSITION

The Committee of the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club is pleased to announce local greyhound racing identity Carl McGrath (above) as the new Manager of the Club.

Following the recent decision by current Manager Troy Harley to take on a position with Greyhound Racing Victoria, the SGRC has made the decision to engage a full time Manager.

After a recruitment process that saw the Club receive several quality applications, Carl McGrath will commence in his role as Manager on June 3.

Born and bred in Shepparton, Carl McGrath comes to the Club with extensive management experience as well as a lifetime involvement in greyhound racing that commenced working as a teenager on race nights at the old Shepparton greyhound track and has included success as a breeder and owner in more recent years.

“The McGrath family name is synonymous with greyhound racing in the region and Carl’s hands on involvement as a participant in the industry as well as his management experience is a perfect fit for the role and the Club is pleased to have been able to secure his services for the role,” said SGRC President John Martin.

“During the past two or so years the Club has undergone some significant changes and improvements to enable the Club to move forward and progress and Carl’s passion for the industry, connection to the community and vision for the future is a perfect fit and the Committee sees the appointment as a positive one and one to provide long term stability to the role.”

New Manager Carl McGrath is equally excited about the role.

“My combined passions for greyhound racing, the Shepparton region and business management make the role of Manager for the Shepparton Greyhound Racing Club a dream job. I am grateful for the opportunity being provided to me by the Club to work in the industry and in my home town and am keen to ensure the long term viability and success of the Club,” McGrath said.
