RACE BY NUMBERS

The odds on this occurring would be astronomical.

In Race 7 at The Meadows on Wednesday, the eight-dog field finished in racebook order.

The only hitch was a deadheat for sixth between dogs No.6 and No.7.

Marg Long, General Manager at The Meadows, cannot recall greyhounds finishing in racebook order in any other race since the track opened in 1999, during which time it has conducted almost 17,000 races.

“I’m pretty sure this hasn’t happened before at The Meadows. We’ve been racing for 14 years and if it has occurred previously it was certainly a long time ago, and I can’t remember it,” Long laughed.

The sequential dividends paid well with the quinella $19.70, the exacta $39.30, the trifecta $288.30, and the first four $681.60.
