GALLONS OF SPEED

Glen Gallon reels in Maverick Tiger and clock the brilliant time of 29.23sec.

QUEENSLANDER FASTEST AS THOMPSON LANDS A TREBLE

Glen Gallon pulled out a magnificent come-from-behind victory when winning one of the eight Melbourne Cup heats on Thursday night.

The Tony Brett-trained Queensland star recorded the fastest win of the night (29.23sec) and will go into this Thursday’s $500,000 race as one of the main fancies.

Pearcedale trainer Jason Thompson was the only trainer to get more than one greyhound into the Melbourne Cup, as Got A Moment, Don’t Knocka Him and Proven Nitro all saluted.

The box draw for the 2012 Melbourne Cup will be conducted on-course at Sandown Park’s Dog’s Breakfast on Monday morning.
