VIC 2ND TO WA HERO

Miata has well and truly arrived after winning the $80,000 to-the-winner Group 1 Galaxy [715m] at Cannington.

Her first Group 1 final saw the Paul Stuart trained pride of Western Australia give staying stars Zipping Lad (Jason Mackay, NSW) and Shimaguni (Andrea Dailly, VIC) a start waiting until the back straight before her class came to the fore.

Miata [$1.40] settled third as Zipping Lad [$5.80] led with Shimaguni [$7.40] second.

Miata stalked the front-runners until the back straight of the second lap before launching her raid, and then imposed herself on not only the race, but on Australian greyhound racing.

The red fawn dynamo holds the track-record over all three distances at Cannington and boasts a record of 19 wins from 22 starts.

She equalled her own track-record [41.30s] with the win and will be one of the headline acts of the rich Australian Cup Carnival set to begin at The Meadows on Saturday 18 February.
