OH MY GODSEND

Jason Thompson has won his fifth Silver Chief with a heavenly performance by Godsend in the Group 1 event held at The Meadows tonight.

In a stella field for the first group 1 of the New Year, Godsend broke to an early lead and was never headed as the field behind jostled with each other for position.

After the race Thompson said he may have even had a bit of help from the heavens when drawing box 1, indicating that the box draw definitely helped his chances adding that any other alley would have made it difficult for him to win.

Godsend improved his record to seven wins from 15 starts and took his career earnings to over $100,000.

Godsend won at the long odds of $15.50 in front of the mighty Glen Gallon who came from well back in the field to snare second place.

Third was Heston Bale, with the fancied Cape Hawke fourth.
