DYNA TRON DOES IT

Dyna Tron has won the $75,000 Group 1 Hobart Thousand by the barest of margins in a race that will go down as a classic.

Rewind and Dyna Tron shared time of the night honours in last weeks heats and it looked as though the two were going to do it again.

Rewind began best of the field storming to the lead approaching the first turn with Dyna Tron close in tow on the inside.

From then on it was a battle in two, as Dyna Tron worked his way up to Rewind. The pair were six lengths clear of their rivals as they rounded the final turn.

On the home straight nothing could separate them as the two were side-by-side nearing the winning post. With a final lunge, Dyna Tron from the inside was able to snare his second Group 1 of the year, following his Melbourne Cup triumph in November.

Owner Paul Wheeler said after the race that winning the Hobart Thousand ranked right up there with winning the Melbourne Cup.
