ST. LEGER FINAL

The consistent David Bale captured one of Gippsland’s most prestigious greyhound races when taking out the 2011 St. Leger final at Warragul last night and snaring a $7,000 first prize.

Renowned for his come-from-behind racing pattern, the Graeme Bate-trained greyhound led to the first section and from there his strength proved decisive as he cruised to a comfortable five lengths win over Unequivocally and Maxim Reality.

The win put an end to a string of minor placings from the son of Bartrim Bale and Dyna Beauty, and took his career record to five wins and seven minor placings from 15 starts. The win also took his career prize money earnings beyond $27,000.
