GENERAL INFORMATION

Heats of 4 Greyhounds.
Races to be held over 425m.
Greyhounds to race in age groups by month. Eg: Greyhounds whelped December  2011 race each other, Greyhounds whelped July 2012 race each other.

Finals Date:                     Saturday 23rd November 2013

Greyhounds will race each other in the finals according to the times they run in the heats.

Note: All winners may be swabbed in both heats and finals. GRV rules related to prohibited substances will apply.

Auction Date:                  Saturday 23rd November 2013 (post finals)

ELIGIBILITY
1. All greyhounds nominated must be whelped between 1^st December 2011 to 31st July 2012.
2. Greyhounds must race and finish in the heats and finals.
3. All greyhounds must be registered with Greyhound Racing Victoria and be Victorian bred.
4. Greyhounds must be ear branded and micro-chipped.
5. Unnamed greyhounds are eligible.
6. Raced greyhounds are eligible to enter. (Raced greyhounds will compete against each other).
7. Greyhounds will not lose their maiden status for wins in either the heats or finals.

Opening date for nominations - Monday 2nd September 2013
Closing date for nominations - Friday 18th October 2013

Nominators bonus for greyhounds who win a group race sold through ‘Ready 2 Race Sales’

Nominators will receive a bonus of 10% of the total prize money of any greyhound that wins a group event in Victoria. So if the greyhound you sell wins the Melbourne Cup you will receive a bonus of $35,000.
(Note: only winners of group events will receive bonus prize money)

‘Ready 2 Race’ series / Top 8 Final

The $34,000 R2R top 8 final will be established by the greyhounds who earn the most prize money from all race starts between the period of 24th November 2013 to 31st October 2014. The final will be held during the Melbourne Cup carnival in November 2014. 

Each month, a venue will be chosen for special R2R greyhounds meetings. All eligible R2R winning greyhounds will receive $500 bonus. 

‘Ready 2 Race’ nominators top prize money bonus

The greyhound that earns the most career prize money from all race starts between the period of 24th November 2013 to 24th November 2014 will be awarded a $5,000 bonus.

Fees and commissions

There will be no nomination fees to enter your greyhound into the auction. 10% commission of the total sale price will be paid to Greyhound Racing Victoria. If a greyhound is bought back by the owner they will be required to pay the 10% commission only.

Breeder Incentives
Breeders who nominate an entire litter will only pay 5% commission.
$50 per greyhound reward will be given to breeders who recommend owners to sell their greyhound through the R2R sales. Click here for “Breeders offer” terms and conditions.

‘Ready 2 Race Greyhound Sales’ Catalogue
The ‘Ready 2 Race Greyhound Sales’ catalogue will be released on Friday 1st November 2013. There will be no fee for the sales catalogue. It will be released online and distributed to all nominators and registered interested buyers.

Reserve prices
The auction will be a ‘no reserve’ auction with a $500 minimum starting bid. If there is no bids the lot will be passed in and remain unsold.

 Raced Greyhounds
All eligible raced greyhounds can nominate. (Raced greyhounds will compete against each other in the heats).     

GAP registration
All greyhounds that get sold through the R2R sales will automatically become GAP registered.

Conditional sales
Sellers can put a ‘conditional sale’ on their greyhound. Conditions may include breeding rights, training rights or selling a percentage share of the greyhound. A time frame must be established for the agreement. Parties to determine and assume responsibility. All conditional sales must be pre approved by GRV.

Withdraw notice
Greyhounds can be withdrawn from the sales if there is a genuine reason. GRV will determine if an acceptable reason is provided for any greyhound withdrawn from the sales. A $100 penalty will be issued to nominators who do not provide a genuine reason to withdraw.
