After starting out in the greyhound industry as a gate attendant at the MGRA in 1958, Ken Carr was to become one of the most admired and respected administrators in greyhound racing's history. He was employed as Manager/Grader at the MGRA from 1971 through to1989 before moving into the position of the Greyhound Racing Control Board's Chief Executive from 1989 to1995. In his honour, GRV in recent years introduced the Ken Carr Medal, which recognises a person's outstanding contribution to the sport of greyhound racing and is presented at the annual Industry awards night.
