Henry Harrison raced and bred many hundreds of greyhounds over the years and his passion for the sport came to the fore when he joined the Sandown GRC in 1959. He was elevated to the position of the club's chairman in 1964 and retained that position for some 23 years until his retirement in 1987. Henry had a number of powerful friends, particularly the state sports ministers of the time and Liberal Premier Sir Henry Bolte. He used these contacts for the betterment of greyhound racing.
