The Ted Redpath owned and trained Half Your Luck raced between 1972 and 1974 during which time he was called "the people's dog" because of his ability to attract punters from all walks of life. A big white and black sprinter who tipped the scales at 34kg, Half Your Luck won a phenomenal 29 city races during his illustrious career. He won from all eight boxes at Olympic Park, with one of his most famous wins being the 1973 Australian Cup. Half Your Luck had a nemesis called New Mariner, with the pair's rivalry creating great public interest. Half Your Luck's career record finished at 71 starts for 46 wins and 14 placings, and he earned over $50,000 in prize money.
