IS THIS THE BIGGEST
RUN OF ALL TIME?

Thursday 01 September, 2011

Swift Fantasy produced arguably the biggest run of all time during the Group 2 Wanganui Stayers Cup Final (755m) in New Zealand two weeks ago.

Missing the jump, Swift Fantasy, meandered behind the pack before exploding into action. Coming from at least 25 lengths back, the Victorian bred hound, was able to storm home passed her fancied rivals and ignite the debate on whether it's the greatest ever race.

"I reckon I've seen a million greyhound races, maybe more, and that is clearly the best run I have ever seen."

A prominent punter in the industry commented "I reckon I've seen a million greyhound races, maybe more, and that is clearly the best run I have ever seen."

The dog's Victorian link is with Bunyip trainer Geoff Collins and Swift Fantasy's mother Swift Flyer. Geoff had high hopes that the litter would produce something special. Swift Flyer is a litter sister to former champion stayer Texas Gold, who raced with the same eye-catching finishing burst.

"It's a freakish bloodline, they have a distinctive race style and her run was just outstanding," Collins said.

Note: The runner-up in the 2011 Wanganui Stayers Cup, Smokin Ichiban was also bred in Victoria
